Tuesday, October 03, 2006 Find in a Library (near you) I just learned a cool trick. I had seen these sorts of hits come up on Google, but wasn't sure how to get them consistently. Turns out that to find any book -- well, any of 1.3 million books -- all you have to do is precede your Google query with "find in a library" -- leaving the quotes on that phrase. Generally, the first hit will be a pointer to the WorldCat database. Plug in your postal code, state, province or country, and WorldCat will tell you where the most geographically proximate copies are languishing. Here are a few random examples. By the way, on that first one? WorldCat will tell you it was written by Rick Levine, but I think there were several (unmentioned, and one unmentionable) co-authors. 4:01 PM | link | |
